Harry E. Sames, III
A Laredo native, Harry (Hank) E. Sames, III is the President of Sames Auto Group. Founded in 1910 by his great-grandfather, William J. Sames, and partner, James Moore, Mr. Sames represents the fourth generation of his family to own and manage this successful automobile business. The company consists of dealerships with six locations in Laredo, Texas. Sames Motor Company is Texas’ Oldest Dealership selling Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, and Honda products. Mr. Sames is proudest of his most recent business venture, as CEO of Sames Crow Ford in Corpus Christi, which sells the Ford brand in addition to used cars.
A true community leader, Mr. Sames serves on the board of The Laredo National Bank, Ford Salute to Education Scholarship Program and the Greater Laredo Community Foundation. He has also served as President of the Laredo Country Club and was a Director of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association. As a testament to his dedication to education, he and his wife founded the Hank and Elizabeth Sames Scholars Program, which makes college education available to deserving students in the community.
Mr. Sames’ accolades also include being named the Laredo Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year in 1999. Most recently the State of Israel awarded him with the Texas Freedom Award in 2004. Currently, Mr. Sames has been named Mr. South Texas for 2006.
A graduate of Nixon High School, in Laredo, Texas, Mr. Sames holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Sames is married to Elizabeth Romano Sames. Mr. Sames has two children, Evelyn Sames (Ryan) Cain and Courtney Sames along with six step-children, Landon Romano, Elizabeth Romano, Caroline (Tyler) Olson, Louis Romano, Victoria Romano and Alexandra Romano.
Bob Crow
Bob Crow, President and General Manager of Sames Crow Ford loves that he has been able to continue his family's legacy as an automotive dealer. Originally from Slaton, Texas, Crow's automotive tradition began two generations ago when his grandfather, Doc Crow, became a Chevrolet Dealer in Abernathy, Texas in 1926.
One of Crow's most rewarding achievements has been nurturing the success of Ford's Salute to Education, a scholarship program aimed to aid community service-minded high school seniors achieve their higher education goals.
"I love working with children and educators," says Crow. "And I love that in America, we make education available to anybody who is really committed to it."
Crow helped spearhead Salute to Education when it began in San Antonio in 1993; it has now blossomed to six Texas markets plus some Florida and California markets. The program has distributed over $10 million in grants and scholarships to date.
An avid reader, outdoorsman and conservationist, Crow is active in many community organizations, some which include: Avance, Boone and Crockett Club, Boys and Girls Club, Del Mar College Foundation, Earning by Learning, First United Methodist Church of Corpus Christi, Kids Fish, Texas Automobile Dealers Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Texas Wildlife Association, and Westside Business Association.
Crow holds a degree from the University of Texas at Austin in business management and has two children, Dos Crow of Houston and Alexis Crow of London.
